Now, the sound that usually plays when the Recycle Bin is emptied doesn't play anymore. I have located the .wav file that it uses in the Registry Editor at,

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\Explorer
\EmptyRecycleBin\.Current

It's String Value is,

%SystemRoot%\media\Windows XP Recycle.wav

Now that I have renamed the Recycle Bin, do you now how I can associate this .wav file back to it.

P.S.-Could you e-mail me in case I lose this URL...I have quite alot of Favorites. Thanks SpyderBDM@aol.com

Re: XP: Rename Recycle Bin | Windows | Tech-Recipes

Short and sweet.

Re: XP: Rename Recycle Bin | Windows | Tech-Recipes

:( When I select "explore" ,appear panel explore.When I right-click on "Recycle Bin" don't appear "Rename"..Why?? :x

Re: XP: Rename Recycle Bin | Windows | Tech-Recipes

hehehe.. nice one! :D

Re: XP: Rename Recycle Bin | Windows | Tech-Recipes

I live for stuff like this ( ... ).
Thanks.

Re: XP: Rename Recycle Bin | Windows | Tech-Recipes

Nice hack! Go to
HKCR/CLSID/645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E/ShellFolder/Attributes and change it from 40 01 00 20 to 70 01 00 20.
To change the name without using the registry anymore, right-click on the recycle bin and choose explore. In the left pane of Explorer, you can now change the name, as normal.
