if I delete and reinstall windows movie maker, will I lose the one hour long project I'm working on that's saved? Will I be able to open it up in the newly installed WMM????

dude guys you have to browse files select one, then go back to your files, drag the file into your desktop, and your good to go! You dont need a cd

DOWNLOAD WINDOWS XP SP3.exe about 316MB, extract it to: C:\WINDOWS\inf and then do this:
Click the Start button, select Run , and type %systemroot%\inf.
Right-click moviemk.inf and select Install

So, I'm not much of a computer expert, but I followed the advice above, and then instead of inserting the CD, I clicked browse. If you go through the C:/Windows file (it's very large with lots of files in it) and then find the file called ServicePackFiles. Then you go to i386. If you sort through there, you should be able to find MovieMaker file and the reinstall should work.

C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

I had to browse for it myself, I couldn't just insert the above filepath.

Try C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 - moviemk.inf exists there too on my machine.
