Interesting... IE should have the "Manage Add-ons..." button if you are using the latest versions.
Look at the bottom left corner of the "Internet Options window" in the "Programs tab". It should be there :? ...
If you don't have the button then try doing this:
Tools > Manage Add-ons... > Then select the "Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer" option. Then scroll down to find the Windows Genuine Advantage Add-on.
Note: Apparently you won't be getting the Manage Add-ons button if you don't have Service Pack 2... thanks FireBlade for pointing this out, its funny how I didn't notice that
Hope this helps :D

Well Dcarver19@aol.com... hmm... I wonder if its possible to loose the product key... :?
Anyways I don't think it is possible to bypass the product key expecially if you brought xp only a while ago. But if you did loose the key you can try calling up Microsoft and telling them about this(if you haven't already). And if you are trying to install xp on another computer I don't think you can do that, because according to my understanding of microsoft ... you need to pay to install it on another computer. Plus even if you can install it on another computer you might not be able to get the genuine advantage downloads etc.

works great but I suppose that they will come up with another proper validation . It keeps you on your toes

Yup, validation techniques are constantly changing and becoming better... but until it does this recipe should work just fine.

Getting close there with the bypass. In all of those add-ons, I can choose to enable/disable all of them EXCEPT the WGA validation tool. It just fades and i can't click it. Instead there's a little message saying, "only the system administrator can change this." I am the system administrator!
Any new ideas? or must this machine stop?

Well, it could be that you aren't in the right account, or you've just downloaded the patch that Microsoft realeased. If you've gone to update.windows.com lately, you might have downloaded the patch, which prevents the Windows Genuine Advantage tool to be disabled... like people above said Microsoft might come up with a solution, and apparently they have found a soulution...

Well I believe Microsoft patched this one up, have you tries the latest recipe http://tech-recipes.com/windows_tips1319.html by William Wilson? This one should work since it is newer.

(I've had a legal copy of XP for almost 3 years now, and i use the bypass listed above just because it saves time when looking for specific updates)
The fact that MS leaves their javascript code embeded within each page instead of linking is not the smartest plan, though it is still readable the other way. What takes the cake is that the option to disable the key check is available... I don't know who's bright idea that was, lol, but i thank them.

Yes it still works. I installed XP SP1 yesterday and used the script trick that I found here to bring SP1 to SP2 with all updates current. Works exactly as described never asking for a validation key.

Can't remember the site I found it.
So Windows Update no longer checks for validation. I checked the validation tool and it now says it is valid. It recommends i install the Service Pack 2. But when I try to install Service Pack 2 it comes up that the licence key is wrong during the installation. Any way to bypass the check on the installer?
