Nero is your best bet for erasing these discs, but i have had some success with a combination or XP and it's DLA functions.

As odd as it seems, i say the opposite for dvd-rw. My best experiences have been with easy cd 5 platinum with the xp migration. It erases and burns my dvd-rw's perfectly every time!
and i have a drive that HP doesn't even admit to existing as far as drivers go.. lol (similar to the 300n now available)

Re: XP: Erase a CD-RW Disc | Windows | Tech-Recipes

Knowledge Base artical on your problem, see if it helps.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=...

Re: XP: Erase a CD-RW Disc | Windows | Tech-Recipes

Right click on cd-rw drive to get properties.Recording tab.Check if enable CD recording is ticked. If not tick.Apply.If it is remove tick.Apply.Put tick back.Apply.Removing and then replacing seems to reset erase feature.

Re: XP: Erase a CD-RW Disc | Windows | Tech-Recipes

Hi, just noticed this while having same problem.

Solution:- In My Computer, right click on cd drive and select properties. In Recording tab, ensure that "Enable CD recording on this drive" is checked.
This will give you right click "erase" etc.

Re: XP: Erase a CD-RW Disc | Windows | Tech-Recipes

penny wrote:
I cannot erase - my options do not show erase anywhere - have xp

Take a look at http://www.tech-recipes.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1709 and see if that helps you out.

Risherz

Re: XP: Erase a CD-RW Disc | Windows | Tech-Recipes

I cannot erase - my options do not show erase anywhere - have xp

Re: XP: Erase a CD-RW Disc | Windows | Tech-Recipes

I have the same problem. First, intermittantly the right click menu would NOT list Erase as an option. Now 50% of the time I try six discs there's no Erase option and when there is the Wizard aborts and a prompt says I can't erase because Disc is IN USE try again later.

same whether I use my DVD or CD drives.

Any idea? I have a nearby IMAC, is there an easy way to erase on the iMAC? Thanks. What drive do you have?

Re: XP: Erase a CD-RW Disc | Windows | Tech-Recipes

i cant get that erase to work.....my cd burner wont even show that there is a disk in it, it works fine any other time, it just doesnt show that

if you could help me out with the erasing of CDs then email me at joshjendreas@hotmail.com
