just try it and it is working fine without restarting the computer. try to write the words correctly it is
"
powercfg /hibernate on"maybe you miss spill it or forget to write (on)

i followed the steps but my pc does not recognise the powercfg/ hibernate command, it says it is invalid

This puts the hibernate button back, but when I click hibernate, it goes actually does something more like restart. It doesn't shut down properly or save open programs, and when it comes back on it goes into recovery mode first.

the command i had to use was "POWERCFG -H ON"
otherwise it said "Invalid Parameters -- try "/?" for help" using the syntax suggested here

I have to say, for those of you that can't get this to work, it has to be another problem in your pc, It's does work very easy. I was given the same command with a professional tech and just followed the same protocal and I'm back in Hibernate mode again, just make sure you right click 'command prompt', it won't work if you don't. thanks again
