You don't know offhand how to set the MWI (message waiting) indicator through email-sms gateways do you? I would like to send an email SMS that lights up the MWI and leaves a callback #, not just lights up the "SMS waiting" indicator. I am fairly confident this can be done, since the various per-msg SMS services claim to be able to do it.

I'm sure it's just some kind of header but that's a pretty broad answer. :-)

Found this on t-mobile.de allowing sms to be sent from email:

<Full Number including @t-mobile-sms.de">prefix>@t-mobile-sms.de

Example: 0176563684@t-mobile-sms.de will send an SMS to 0-176-563684.

Obviously only works for German T-Mobile (D1) handys!

:evil: Can't get it to work on my prepaid phone :evil:

Anyhow, the directions tell you how to activate it, but it's in German.

Figured out you need to get to the activation by going thru these menu options:

Special / Mail&Fax / E-Mail mit SMS / Empfang / freigeben / <type the date and hit OK> / <type the month and hit OK> / Abbrechen

Should be activated, but it displayed a new error I've never seen on my phone before ("BARRED"), then the sim card tells me "Netzwerkproblem!" Maybe it's because I have no minutes on it :idea:

Note I have a phone I originally purchased with a T-Mobile USA contract (Samsung X105) and have used all over the world without issues... Well, roaming on Cell One in Montana sucked... but everywhere in Kuwait had great service!

Oh, and here's a bunch more sms via email addresses!

Ufone in Pakistan has the following smtp gateway:

Where do I insert a destination phone number if I want to send a text message to a Ufone customer via email? I am confused since “0333″ seems to replace the destination phone number.

0333 probably is the destination phone number. think about those game shows you see when they ask you to vote they'll say "send a text with your vote to 5574" or something. It's just short number specifically for texting. Try just replacing it with a standard 10-digit and see what you get :)

Try sending an email to your phone using, yourphonenumber@ufone.com. That would be my best bet... Otherwise, try calling customer service and asking them what the proper format it, or for that matter, what your phone's email address is.

You can finally send a pic message to an AT&T phone via email. What I do is keep the photo small, a good utility is the microsoft image resizer power toy, i do it at Windows CD size 320x240 or smaller depending on the phone. I'm not sure if it still trounces messages too long. Hope this helps

I've tried sending pix through e-mail (as attachments, not embedded HTML code though) using those addresses without any luck.

My friend said he couldn't see any pic, unless he just didn't know how to "open" it....? Not too sure :P

Hey if you know how to send picture messages to your phone (US Cellular is phonenumber@mms.uscc.net) and your phone is portrait (like 240x320) then all you have to do is google image search for iPhone wallpapers and you can send them straight to your phone. They will fill the whole screen and look wonderful on it!

P.S. The LG Rumor (UX 260 on US Cellular) is a portrait mode phone, just google image search the LG Rumor and look for a picture with the keyboard closed. The correct screen shape for the pictures listed above is the shape of that screen. If you have a screen that is wider than tall, it is most likely 320x240. look for computer wallpapers for that kind.

Anyone know what's up with the new Hotmail, I can't send a reply txt email to her T-mobile in Germany from the USA anymore like I've done for years, when she sends me an email with a v/m. try 411.com and do a reverse phone number look up. Ir it is a cell, it probably will not tell you who it is, but it should show their carrier. If they have changed carriers and taken their number with them, there is a possiblity the carrier has changed. GL!

You cannot attach pictures to an email you are sending to a sprint phone using the email address given in this article. Sprint says to send pictures you should use "phonenumber@pm.sprint.com". pm stands for picture mail.

Personally, I have, on many occasions, suffered very long delays sending messages to other carriers. I have been with AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. 99.9% of the time, the messages get through without a hitch. But there are some that either have long delays(several hours), or don't go through at all. It seems that some carriers conflict with each other sometimes. I have seen it where AT&T sends to Sprint just fine, but takes 3 hours for a message to get through to T-Mobile. I don't think there is anything, other than getting everyone you know and even those you don't know to switch over to the network you are using. Like I said, though, in my experience, 99.9% of all messages get through all the time. Just every once in a while there is a spell where other networks have a delay, or total black out. Sending a message on the same network as mine, there has never been a problem.

No. The MetroPCS system is smarter than you. It can read your mind and send your email to the correct phone. Out of all the area codes, it knows the right one.
