Tech-Recipes: Running your own shoutcast server / streaming using XP Prof & IIS | HTML | Tech-Recipes

To do this you do not require the IIS to be installed. Shoutccast comes with it's own web interface running on the port you specify in the config file. In this case "8080".

If you don't believe me, try it without the IIS installed and see for yourself.

Seamonkey...was wondering what you were using the IIS for? I've about had it with an Icecast server I'm building and move to Shoutcast...Shoutcast can't be any worse to set up than IceCast...that's for sure! I'm building it on a Win2K Server with Compaq hardware. Hopefully it works for the Radio Station I'm building...but time will tell. Hope to have it up tonight.

Just was wondering what the IIS was for so I don't go installing it if I don't need it...

The big question is, can it be run without logging into a Windows session? I.e. as a background service?

hello, sorry but i want to ask a n00b question.
what I must do with the config file? should I upload it to a webserver? how about if I used a free hosting service on the internet as a place to keep the config file??

    thanks,

Question: am I able to have the server "downgrade" the quality of the streamed mp3s?
