I disabled the driver, restarted, but now I can;t get out of 32 color VGA. It's driving me absolutely nuts. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can go back to where I was before I clicked on the stupid NVIDIA display?

Re: Remove NVIDIA Display from Context (Right-Click) Menu on the Desktop | Windows | Tech-Recipes

risherz wrote:

I was not able to right click my desktop for months after installing a new OS and all the drivers (including NVIDIA) and other apps. Plus my registry got corrupted! I have no idea why XP is so sensitive to problems in this part of the registry.

Re: Remove NVIDIA Display from Context (Right-Click) Menu on the Desktop | Windows | Tech-Recipes

Thanks!

This was a signifigant help as it solved a bigger problem than just not wanting to see the NVIDIA context menu.

I was not able to right click my desktop for months after installing a new OS and all the drivers (including NVIDIA) and other apps. Dr. Watson Post Mortem debugger would pop up. There was too much to figure out what the problem was and I didn't find an answer until I found this article through the Jeeves search engine by once again looking for "can't right click on desktop".

This article finally resolved the problem. I was also not able to right click on the desktop or inside an Explorer directory or choose "File". After removing the specified NVIDIA registry entry now everything works like it should.
