First, Google ignores +s in queries. All search terms are included with an AND unless if you exclude them with -.
I assume intitle:"index of" +("/ebooks"|"/book") is supposed to be intitle:("index of" (ebooks|book)). For one thing, the quotes are unnecessary around a single word. Secondly, Google ignores slashes. Finally, that's improperly formed anyway and matches any "ebooks" or "book" text in the page, thus matching any folder with some random "book.zip" within.
As for +(chm|pdf|zip)... that's ridiculous. You might also want to read HTML, lit, doc, rtf, or txt files that come up. Don't limit your search by filetype! I don't even know what chm is! Instead, let's include a "last modified" in the query, to verify it's a directory listing.
Final result:
http://www.google.com/search?q=-inurl%3Ahtm+-in...
Feel free to improve on my suggestions.
