note that use of the console is unsupported by Activision Customer
Support. Please do not contact Customer Support with console command
questions.
Note: For ease of use, the console can be set to open with just the
TILDE (~) key. To turn this setting on you must enter the following
command:
com_allowConsole 1
We know what most of these commands do now.
Reference my other recipe...
http://www.tech-recipes.com/windows_games_tips5...
Open the console with CTRL+ALT+ `
(that's pressing the tilde button while holding down cltr and alt keys)
(If you can't find the tilde key, it's left of the numeric one key and the top of your keyboard.)
I love these forums. (now, off to play DOOM!)
I keep seeing this, but I can't get it to work!
I've tried the command above, and preceding it with set or seta.
No help.
thats it....HAPPY FRAGGIN!
also, I looked a the cvars, all 962 of them, and I still haven't found anything. I think what i need is to toggle a variable, but I don't know how to find and change vars, just cvars, unless, of coarse, the only vars I can change ARE cvars, which would mean to me that cvar mean changeable variable. :?:
I just hate how zombies gib when I shoot them with the shotgun or when I headshot them with the auto-rifle. It just doesn't look good, or as cool, as the demon effects. :?
Anyway, I'll keep looking, and post if I figure out how. It might be set in stone, it may not. I sortof have a solution that involves turning off the gore with the "g_bloodeffects" and setting it to 0, it get's rid of the annoying skeletons, but unfortunetly gets rid of my precious blood effect to. I'm gonna look for an effect that will allow me to re-enable the blood without the skeleton, but first I think I'll just beat the damn game!
http://www.tweakguides.com/Doom3_1.html
It will be updated as time goes by so add it to your favorites.
Oh, and that anti-gib command I was looking for? Forget it. Better programmers than me have tried, found it wasn't their, moded Doom, and then released it to www.planetdoom.com or www.fileplanet.com .
If you want a change in Doom that you couldn't figure out how to do, try looking in the FilePlanet D3 mod section.

RECCOMENDED MODS FOR DOOM 3
Ungibable:
http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/143915.s...
Makes zombie/human corpses industructable, makes demon bodies last longer.
The reason I would not reccomend downloading Fileplanets Nitro Gore mod is because it makes corpses last forever, and in playing the later half of D3 with the mod I found many conflicts with gameplay design, level design.
Elevator doors, lifts, and even elevators themselves where blocked by unmoveable, unkillable corpses.
I had to remove the corpses by beating them out of harms way with a flashlight or RL round, and at some point in the game their becomes a point where you NEED enemies to disintigrate so that they'll respawn, in order to progress...
Weapon Gib Mod:
http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/144100.s...
Same as above (actually it's a modified version of the above), but if you still want to rip of your enemys flesh with the RL, Nades, or BFG, this is for you. I have now tested it. It elimnates Ungibable's annoying (to me) habbit of making demon corpses last for a long time.
Enhanced DOOM Mod:
http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/144059.s...
"When Doom 3 was released, many people were disappointed because weapons lack that oomph! sound, bodies gibbed, physics not being shown properly etc. This mod aims to change what id has failed to do so."
VariLight Mod:
http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/144054.s...
Like the duct tape mode, however, different size flashlight on all weapons, and a targeting lazer on the pistol. People who played Halo will probably appreciate this mod.
Enjoy! :D

I want to code a mod that makes it able to use it with 3d goggles (e.g. crystal eyes). Can I go that deep into the game that I can change the viewing perspective and draw a white line at the bottom?
Is there maybe some kind of documentation about modding doom3?
Cheers,
Whyking

WOW! 8O 3D goggles! Where'd you get em? Where can I get em? Any way...
To my understanding, either you have to download a software "update" for the game from a 3rd party, usually an accomplice of the 3D goggles company, or the 3D glasses will work on any generic Direct X or OpenGL application.
Doom3 is to my understanding OpenGL, but I could be very badly mistaken. Maybe it supports both?
Anywayz, you'll HAVE to wait for the SDK to come out before you can do anything at a beyond scripting level.
P.S. Do you know how to mod?
thx
give keys = Acquire all the keys you'll ever need
</ul>
When I tried these two settings all I got was a warning message saying "Unknown stat 'keys' added to player's inventory" (substitute keys for doom95)
are they supposed to do anything for real?
I do have the Doom95 game installed if it is needed.

Those are not known commands for the retail version of Doom 3. I believe those worked in alpha versions. The recipe above is correct by not including the commands you quote above.
I take them and they turn out to be .tga files, which not alot of programs read. And I really dont wanna get a program that converts to jpeg. I know in other games you can put in a command for a jpeg shot, but for this one I cant find it, does anyone know?

No jpg screenshots. It's either conversion or nothin'
I want to get frame rates with different combinations of Quality / Resolution / Anisotropic / Antialiasing and see how my system performs.
Its easy enough doing it manually in the menu & console:
Set Quality
Set Resolution
Set Anisotropic
Set Antialiasing
vid_restart
...wait...
timedemo demo1
...wait...
Write down FPS
[REPEAT] (over and over and over)
Doom 3 looks not half bad at 640x480, but I've got a P4 3.2, 1Gb and a Radeon 9800 Pro - so I may be able to run it at up to 1280 x 960.
I thought about testing combinations the 4 quality settings, 5 resolutions, AF at 1 and 8, and AA at 0, 2 and 4. Thats 120 different combinations!
Would be nice if I could exec a script that:
1. Set the graphics settings & vid_restart
2. Ran timedemo (maybe twice)
3. Dumped the FPS (or even a screen shot)
The script would be pretty repetitive, but it only needs to be written once. You could kick it off, let it run then gather up the results.
Then run the whole thing again with a bit over CPU or GPU overclocking, or different BIOS settings.
Any ideas how I could do this?
