Tech-Recipes: Display or Remove Welcome Screen after Screensaver | Windows | Tech-Recipes

Returning to the login screen seems only to be useful when a system is password protected. If a system uses user ids with passwords, then it is likely appropriate for the system to request reauthentication following a period of inactivity.

However, if all one is forced to do is click on a pretty picture next to a name, I agree that it is a nuisance. I'm glad there is a means to disable this. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Note: the "Display Welcome Screen on Resume" is only available when there are more than one user account. (besides the Administrator or guest accounts) If you only have one account you'll get the classic Win2k logon window, not the welcome screen.

Thanks a lot for this hint, I hate it when the welcome screen comes in uninvited.
